Question What Opti Should I Get? Will A 95 Opti Work?

i was wondering what opti sprak i should get and all the ones in summit and online say its for 95-97 none of them say its for a 94 so i was also wondering if the 95 will work on my 94 camaro im pretty sure the opti is out it runs fine when its first started in the morning it will rev to 6200 rpms no problem but once it runs for a little it starts going down 5,000 rpms 4...3...2500... then down to 2,000 rpms and it will start popping and the rpms will jump up and down and t doesnt have any power it sounds like a super bad misfire if it wasnt a opti spark what else would it be?

thanks guys

I asked the same thing just a few weeks ago So while I could just yell "SEARCH FIRST!" I'll just let you know. You can, but you need to 'upgrade', if you will, to the other components needed. The crank trigger being the main critter needed for it. I even think one of the stickies outlines what's needed, but not 100% sure on that.

Sounds kinda like my 62 Army Jeep... cold runs peachy, but once it got hot it would spit and sputter and usually die if I didn't fan the gas and monkey with the choke :\ I rebuilt the carb, took it apart 2 or 3 times, cleaned it a few times, checked over everything. Blew thru the fuel filter to see if that was it... Couldn't figure it out. Finall decided to buy a new fuel filter and voila! Works like a charm now... So I'd start there if you haven't replaced it recently. Then maybe fuel pump, pressure regulator, injectors going out with open loop(or is it closed loop when hot? I get em mixed up) and injector pulse/width changes *shrug*

I hope the filter fixes it though.

Before you start replacing fuel parts, I would suggest checking your pressure. IMO, that is not the culprit, but a pressure check would verify.
IIRC, your car uses a non-vented opti, and the later models use a vented opti. If it is indeed your opti, I would suggest finding another non-vented unit, rather than converting. Just my two cents worth.

lol well a $8-10 fuel filter can't hurt a thing With gas prices how it is, who knows what stations are skimping on quality fuel :\ My friend has pluged 2 filters (not FBody related) in under 9 months. I've pluged one in under a year.

Sounds like it may be running fine in open loop. But acts up when it warms up and goes into a closed loop. Could be a bad O2. My wife almost didn't get the car home when one of my O2 sensors went out on my car.
