Default oil pressure

when im cruising at 3000rpm before shifting im at 40-42psi.

cold idle: 50-60psi
hot idle: 20-28psi
idle is both 1,000rpm hot or cold (tach shows)

when driving: 2000-4000rpm is 45-50psi above 4000rpm to 6000rpm is 50psi i think or 60.

im running valvoline high mileage 20W50 oil.

i dont think my pump is out. do i need a new sending gauge, to correct anything? im getting oil up to the heads when i took my covers off. i get no ticking/knock. im pretty sure back in march when i bought the car the hot idle psi was around 40 or 30.

i have never seen a stock lt1 have a hot idle above 30 psi your pressure is about right on par with what my lt1 runs for pressure i wouldn't worry about it

Except he's running 20w50... It should be higher I'd think. Don't get worried about my inquiry, that's just what I'm assuming.

Your alright, LT1's are known for low oil pressure. Mine is at 25 @ hot idle in 95 degree weather. In the LT1 manual specs say 6psi for every 1k rpm....or 10 psi just to be on the safe side.

Default oil pressure

My new 383 has the exact oil pressure as what you have and I know the clearances are right everythings new. I also have the same oil pressure whether I run 10w40 or 20w50 doesn't change enough to notice at least.

yea my 383, was never that high when hot, I would be actually worried if I stayed at 40 psi when hot....
