Anyone running Mikronite gears in their 10 bolt?

people have media blasted metal for years. its no secret smoother metal is stronger because the surface is more consistent. there is no coating here. its a media blasting technique that has a scientific backing to make it true.
im going to be putting 3.73s in my car before it runs so im going to get this done just to see the results. if i break it, im out 300 bucks. if it lasts, i just saved myself 2200 that can go to other more important things.

I didn't even think about a HP increase but since all the parts are smoother then the reduced frictional losses would explain that.

I wonder what performance gain i could get out of my 12 bolt. If 14 rwhp was brought out in a 10 bolt and the parasitic loss on a 12 bolt is more then the 10. I would be interested to see what those numbers would be.

I can see getting some strength from this, the imperfections are going to be the weakest place, so are going to be the spot that breaks.
This treatment removes those, and puts the surface in a state of compression, making it alittle most resistant to shelling teeth.
I would love to see some more guys running this and what results they are getting.

well, i'm not an employee of crane cams, vinci high performance, or mikronite. i am the one that supplied the car for the testing and did the gear swapping to two different gear set tests. this was in my 00 formula, the black car. my car, at that time, was 442 rwhp with the 200 (motor rated) n2o.
in the first test, there were two sets of 4.10 gears involved. the first set was stock. the second set was the mikronite processed gears. this was to compare for hp gains/losses, sound differences, and higher/lower temps. i don't have a copy of the unprocessed vs processed gear dyno, but if i remember correctly, there was about a 7 rwhp gain and 30* lower temps. also, the gear set was quieter with the process. i kept these gears in my car from may 2005 until about october 2005. going to the track and driving everyday. so, estimated 5000 miles and many 200 (motor rated) n2o runs. whe we pulled this set of hears out for the next round of testing, it still looking just like they did when we put them in.

so once the ring and pinion are replaced, are there any other major problem areas of the 10 bolt? i mean will the posi carrier and the axles survive that kind of power too? i know they are weak rears, but i always heard that it was the size of the 7.5" ring gear that was the main problem here. i dont know much about them otherwise.

Are you running Auto or Stick and Street Radial or Drag Radial and what brand of tire. Also do you have some video so we can see how the car is being launched and run through the gears.
