Yep I asked a stupid question, VHP is in FL, called them, I'm sending my gears out.
Yeah and they are shipped, should arrive there tommarow.

an aluminum rear cover with preload studs will help out tremendously.

auto with py3400e converter. at the time i did the testing, i was using nitto 315/35-17 DRs. no video of the car. pulled a 1.709 60ft on the bottle. the 200 motor rated nitrous being turned on just before the 60ft mark as you can see.

Nice, I sent the gears out to VHP today, and I have a T/A girdle and the stud kit laying here. I've got a nitrous setup I'm still getting some parts, so after seeing your results I hope I will be happy.

With the mikronite coating, are the gears usually more noisy?

I had mine installed last week, the installer did everything properly, and I broke them in according to Richmonds instructions, but they seem really whiney, esp. around 2k rpms.
I've never had a gear swap done in any of my cars til now, so this might be a normal level of sound for all I know, but it seems to be noticible.

They looked great BTW, I will try to get the pics uploaded tommarow.

Strength in the outer skin of the material is like the strength in a monocoque chassis or an airplane fuselage.

If we processed a used gear set we would make those wear ridges very hard and they would become like hard file teeth and would destroy the rear end. We only want our customers to have success not "self destruct"!

This process has many unique capabilities and that is why it is being used on military applications, many different racing applications (there really are some speed secrets...at least for a little while!), industrial (one company has reduced the number of gun drill bits from 7000/yr to 700/yr), medical, aerospace and others. It is significantly different from REM. Not that REM is bad, but REM does not impart residual compressive stresses in the surface and near surface substrate. Those residual stresses are what strengthen the material. That is what you get in shot peening, but shot peening looks nasty compared to Mikronite. Hope this clears things up a little. If not, come to my seminar at the PRI Show in Orlando. It's Friday, Dec 15 at 9:00AM.

Uhm thanks, I was just wondering that because this is the first gear swap I have ever done, if they make more noise with the mikronite, due to the fact that my mikronited gears make a decent amount of noise, even though they were properly installed.

For all I know 4.10's in a 10 bolt do make some whining noise.
So far I'm happy with them, and you hit them with spray and were running DR's, so once I get some longer wheel studs I might try my luck with some DR's.

you were refering the process as a coating.

when i did the first test for mikronite, through vinci, we used 4.10 gears. the unprocessed gears made way more noise than the mikronite processed gears. depending on what brand, and whether they are street cut or race cut gears, they will make more noise than others.

you near orlando?

opps, sorry I called it a coating.
I had VHP ship the gears out, they are 4.10 richmonds, street cut.

I'm close, I live in Hernando county, Orlando is a 1 1/2 hour drive tops, if traffic is sucking.

Mine are still holding together, I never ran a DR on them though.

Even though people say don't build a 10 bolt I already mikronited the gears and got the girdle cover, all that's left is a differential and axles, I think I'm going to go for it.

Wow almost two years indeed.

^^ Yah, I don't know why but I really want to just stick with the 10 bolt. I'm even thinking about taking my torsen apart and having all the gears in there done, but IDK, I kinda want to put these in before I put the car up for the year.

^Agreed! I think im going to try it, i really don't want to spend 2300.00 on a 12bolt or
9".
