Default Nitrous LT1 guys --->

For the guys with bolt on cars, what set ups are you running. Gathering parts to spray mine, was looking to the timing aspect, seems like a lot of you guys are running digital retard boxes. Looked in to the Mallory, has the window switch built in to it as well as the timing retard. Just curious as to what your running, so far my set up is consisting of, or gathering of parts rather.

Cold Fusion Wet Kit
WOT Switch
FPSS w/ Manifold
NX Filter
NX Bottle Warmer
Racetronix Walbro 255 pump (To be ordered)

Now the timing aspect comes in to play, I have a bolt on tune with the timing advanced, I could retune and have the timing retarded but would be retarted constantly. PCMforless told me to look in to the timing box for that reason, I respect them for that since they seem like their trying to find the best solution for the car.

Thanks

I am running a MSD 3 Stage timing retard. Activates with the NOS and has the ability to run with multi stages.

I was in your spot about 4 months ago when I started piecing together my nitrous kit. I haven't had mine tuned either, and I haven't decided exactly what I want to use to pull timing yet, so in the mean time I've been running a 1/2 93 octane 1/2 100 unleaded mix everytime I go to the track. I haven't had any problems yet and it has definately been working great so far.

I'm running:
NX Wet Kit
Zex TPS Sensor Switch
BMN Window Switch with First Gear Lockout
Wilson Manifolds Bottlenut/Filter
Dynotune Automatic Bottle Warmer
Dynotune Digital Nitrous Pressure Gauge

My car has a tune with the timing advanced, after doing some reading doesnt seem to be recomended way to go to pull timming through the tune. The Mallory looks apealing how ever, big thing is, I hate timing boxes, I have always kinda seen them as nothing but problems. I have looked at some of the MSD bozex to pull timing, good but cheaper but I would still need to run a window switch and no amplification, so may be more expensive than the Mallory at 238$.

The 685 is a very good box for the money ($238)...it give you an upgrade ignition, retard, and a window switch.

I am running the MSD Digital 6 ($309) to control Ignition and timing as the MSD gives you a spark controlled Rev Limiter and a 2 step. My NOS Mini Progressive ($195) runs my window switch.

You could possibly get away with out retarding timing a few times with a large shot. Ive ran a 150 on stock fuel pump, and timing, and tune. I ran a 175 a few times and a 200 once for ***** and giggles. All was done with stock timing, tune, fuel pump. I wouldnt advise this for an extended period of time. But Ive heard for every 50HP past 125 retard 2*

Sorry to pull this up but I got a good deal on a MSD 6AL box. How does it work to play with the timing for nitrous? I'll be running 100 shot soon until I upgrade some fuel things and go bigger

a 6al box wont retard the timing. You will need to get a external box for that. And stock timing on it if fine for a 100 shot.

for the 6AL you will need to add the MSD-8680
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

it is an external timing control module

Cool, thanks for the info. I know I won't have to for a 100 shot, I'm just trying to plan out for the future a little

Last time out, I ran a 175 off the rail with full timing. AFR was 13:1 on the tune. I was running out of time and took a gamble. I did run about 1/2 and 1/2 93 and 110. For the 250, I am going to run 110 in the standalone and 22* with an AFR of 11.5:1. I am still kinda worried about my pistons.

So the 685's window switch will allow me to only spray in certain RPM ranges? I'm assuming that is what is meant by window switch in that it is a true window switch.

Yeah, the window switch only allows to spray at certain points, prevents nasty little things like N20 back fires and spraying through shifts on a stock auto.
