I dont even do it not running. Hot lashing is the best way to do it. zero lash is so easy to get it's not even funny while it's running.

Pastvertical,

Just remember, you CANNOT adjust aftermarket rockers the same as you would the stockers. Less preload also allows higher and faster revs, from what I understand. Also, one full turn on a 7/16" stud is not the same as a full turn on a 3/8" stud.

still whether you're using a 7/16" stud or a 3/8" stud all stock lifters are the same and that is what dictates preload.

One full turn on a 7/16" stud will put MORE preload on the lifter, no matter what lifter it is. That's all I'm saying, it may not be enough to make a difference on most rockers, but that's why a range is given.

Gotcha I liked doing the stock rockers (non self aligning) on the 97 cavalier (2.2L) I just worked on. 19ft lbs and you're good to go

thanks for all you input i think im going to adjust them using the hotlash method. but should i get them to zero before i start the motor? and isnt oil going to go everywhere?
