Question Cam selection

Has anybody ran a Comp Cams part # 07-4678 in there LT1? If so please describe on how it performs. Comp told me this has a 576 lift and a 236/230 duration with 1.6 ratio rockers and ground on a 113 LSA. My car is basically stock, LTs no cats and a GMMG exhaust. It has no emissions and a tune. Rear is a stock 3.42 with a auto. Might be a 3.23 I don't remember??Anyway this is not a race car but a DD and just wanted to upgrade the cam with a nice choppy idle. Any help would be appreciated..

well.....thats kinda the cam its a 230/236 576/571 on a 113LSA. It'd be a good cam but i'd get it on a 112 or a 110. LT1's like a tight LSA. For a stock head car, your right on the limit with that cam and i think more people use the 224/230 XE grind. It and the GM846 are two of the best bolt on cams around in my opinion. You dont have to spin the motor to hell to make all the cams power. The cam your looking at should me good power up to 6200

You'll need a new tune

What would the idle sound like? Do you need to change springs with this and go to a stall? If so it may be too much of a cam right now since it's a DD. I was told that I will have a hard time getting it tuned right with anything lower than a 113 LSA. If it was up to me I'd go the 110 LSA route.

Here is what the cc503 sounds like with 112 LSA.

Keep in mind this is through headers hooked up to Stock muffler.

OBTW I have a small exhaust gasket leak in the vid.

It is a good daily driven cam.
You need springs, and gears, and stall (if auto) to make it perform to its potential.

The XFI467 cam is a good cam but will need springs,at least a 2500 stall. But its pretty choppy sounding. I just put one in mine started and drove it for 30 mins before a head gasket gave way. If your gonna go with this cam I would advise getting your heads ported it will make the cam come alive alot more.

If the person tuning the car told you they cant tune something with a tighter LSA than 113 i wouldnt let them touch my PCM. And whoever told you that is full of crap. YOU need to call Ed Wright @ www.Fastchip.com. He IS the BEST!

Well, what would be the biggest cam I can go with without changing the springs or convertor? Would the Hot Cam work?

hot cam will require changing springs. I think the cc305 is the largest without changing springs or stall. But you will need a tune.

Tune is NP springs is ok but right now I don't have the funds for a stall or the gas mileage I'll loose. This is my DD. I just love the sound of a cam with a thumpy idle. Is the cc305 bigger than the Hot Cam? What kind of idle would it have? I have LTs, no cats and a GMMG exhaust...
