I've had this for a while. When I start moving from a dead stop, my car makes a squeak that gets progressively faster as I increase speed. Someone said it could be a brake or something, but I am not sure. The sound seems to come from the front driver side of the car. It does not do this while running at a stop so I don't think it is the motor. At highway speeds I cannot hear it, but if I'm moving at 30-40 mph I can hear a faint sqeaking noise. Maybe you guys could help?

Wheel Bearing, mine did the same thing. Just changed one out on a friends car also..
I hate it when people find out when you can work on Cars..free Dinner and Beer though

how hard is it to fix? how much for the part?

It's easy, it's just the Hub. Take the tire off, the Brake Caliper, Rotor, and it's right there. 4 bolts on back of the Spindle, and pop it out. Then bolt in the new one, and put it back together.
