When building a motor I would use a high output oil pump. Its just more insurance that it won't brake and last longer.

Oil volume and pressure are controled by clearances and relief spring. Put in a high volume pump with stock clearances and all you do is bypass it back to the pan and increase risk of cavitiation. To pump more oil through the motor clearances need to be loosened or pressure raised with no actual benifit despite all the claims of being added "insurance".
Also consider you are putting more strain on the PLASTIC oil pump drive, I am not talking about the drive shaft I mean the stub in the back of the lifter valley.
I do think the all metal driveshafts are a good idea though paying $12 for the ARP is foolish when the Melling is $6.
