Default Quick Q about Cam Lube

Gotta quick question, do local parts stores like Advanced auto and such carry a deasent bottle of cam lube. Im doing a H/C swap this upcoming friday so I'd like to have everything I need tomorrow.

im gunna need some of this stuff to.. whats it called? does it just say cam lube on the bottle? or wat? do you ask for it?

Do not use cam lubre on these motors, that stuff is made for flat tappets which have to break in and mate to their lobes. Roller cams require no such thing. Just use some motor oil and you will be fine. If going to be a prolonged time before startup assembly lube would be OK too but NOT cam lube.

I'd recommend using cam or assembly lube with a new cam and especially new lifters. If not, most say that a heavy weight oil will suffice. I would pour it directly into the lifter valley and drain it right before you start it. Then pour the regular oil directly into both heads to lubricate the valvetrain. Make sure you look up proper break in technique as well.

I heard of some using lucas oil stabilizer?

Lucas is a very thick petroleum based formula, so it could work. I'd use assembly lube before I'd use Lucas.

Its called Engine Assembly Lube, its close by the RTV Silicones, adhesives, etc. I don't remember the price though.
