I would recommend asking for some local help and maybe borrowing or renting a picker. The 4x4 thing sounds F***ed-up. TPIS sells a thing called the "happy hooker" which is for picking an LT1 up from the top. Or, you can just bolt a chain to whereever you can on the heads or block.

As for pulling the K-member, why?... You will need to undo your brake lines, ABS sensors, calipers, power steering rack, struts, and swaybar before you can drop it out.

Hope you have a compressor and a air wrench....

Hmm well I wouldn't trust the 2X4 If you have a garage use 1 of the cross beams to hook a chain to or some type of hoist then bolt it to the motor.

i have figured that i will use something bigger than a 4x4 probably a 6x6 and the reason i am doing it is that my cross member is bent and needs to be replaced. i will be renting a air compressor and some tools
