tap tap tap..
Loud enough to where I can actually hear it a bit in the car with open long tubes, but only at idle, or barely moving.
Any idea?

Although this is pretty rare but since your saying that the noise is LOUD Check your oil for shavings because i had a very loud tap myself. That would lead you to a cam/lifter problem. It happend to me.

looks like something got inbetween the cam/lifter like dirt and ground it but damn it would have taken awhile i'd think https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...8&page=1&pp=20
Pull off your valve covers and re-adjust the valves at zero lash with the proper pre-load. It is pretty easy to do, and I'd imagine that could be your problem.
