Default high compression or turbo ?

im trying to get a plan of attack for a new motor . which idea do you think is better ? this will be for a dd .
1. a 383 wth like 12.5 - 1 with h/c and full bolt on's
or
2. 355 low compression with h/c full bolt on's and a homemade sts setup w/small turbo and intercooled

both motors will have a forged bottom end .
its going in a 95 formula .

id say low compression turbo. 12.5 is likely to overheat on a daily driver unless you have an awesome cooling setup. also turbos make for a pretty good daily driver.

I think you would be pleased with either setup, although I believe that 12.5/1 is a bit too ambitious for a DD. Just don't get too radical with the cam.
I like my STS on a stock bottom end; when I am not on it the car drives just like stock.

If you have the money, go turbo. You can run up to 13:1 on the street if you wanted to, though. Just get the tune dead on.

13:1 on the street? Thats rediculous, your car would run like **** too. Your in vegas I see, when its hot its HOT and when its cold its mildly hot Your elevation is still pretty high up too. I wouldnt think your car would run to well on pump gas at that elevation.

i would probably go with the turbo setup, but i would also expect it to be a lot pricier... i don't know what octane you guys have out there in vegas but here in Cali the we only have 91, if i need anything more than that it's a minimum 20 min. drive... i was also led to believe that the highest compression you could run on an lt1 is 11.5-11.8 and still be able to run it on 91 octane, that cr is considerably high for a d.d. but since our lt1's are reveresed cooled, the heads stay a little cooler which helps fight against detonation, therefore allowing us to run a higher cr on pump gas...
