well either way Id have the cost to clearance the crank as the difference between the two in prices.. If your going for the setup to get you down the track the fastest.. Either of them would have spray..

Put the extra stroke in it. Why not?

383 because you have the LT4 heads, you have more than enough head for it so why not?

Speaking purely about the short block, a forged 383 vs 355 is a difference in machining cost

Exactly. Why would you NOT consider the 383?

I think a good le3 355 can go 10's though on the motor IF setup correctly.

The only time its not so good to stroke a motor when rpms and how fast it can climb are a major consideration like a turbo car. Ultimately I beleive it will make more power over a 355 but people seem to trend toward those set ups.

I say still stroke it.

Go 383, but the stock heads will limit your HP potential. Get a set of AFR, Trick Flow heads to let that thing breathe

I say 383 or 396 cost of them is not much difference! I'm different I want all the stroke and Tq I can get out of my LT4! Theres no Replacement for Displacement!

I was referring to stock castings. LT1/LT4 heads fully ported are only going to flow around 280, maybe a little more if you are lucky and throw some big *** valves in there. If you go with a AFR or TFS casting you can easily get 300 cfm and you can run 2.0/1.57 valves so you don't have to worry about shrouding against the cylinder walls.

Are you smoking something? LOL J/K. Those LT4 heads will flow alot more than 280, even more than 300cfm.

I personally have not seen a production LTx head flow much more than 280. I think that if you dump some big 2.08/1.62 valves in there you might see around 285-290, but when you put those on the motor they will be shrouded a little. If you want to build a max effort motor a TFS head would be better esp on a 383.

All goes back to how fast he really wants go to, like I said the le3 lt4 setup on a 355 should go 10's na, which is more than most ever need.

Is that 10's n/a keeping away from upgrading to a new computer cause the rpm you'll be running? I dont not want to throw $2300 in a xfi or dfi computer.. And those heads flow 295 cfm..
