Default 3.73 or 4.11

Bought my 95 z with 4.11 gears already in it and on the interstate it's just a little too much gear for me. Would there be a big difference in performance by going with 3.73's?

Most guys with 4.10 cars and M6s dont mind the gears...A4s are another story. I doubt you would hurt your acceleration very much by switching to 3.73s as you probably have a hard time getting out of the hole without tire spin anyway, they may even help your launch. But seeing that you have the M6 you may want to wait until you can swap in a 9" or 12Bolt so you dont invest in a 10Bolt that you are liable to frag anyway. Good luck.

i got 3.73's in mine and on the interstate at 75-80 i run about 2K RPM's if i remember right. I'm a M6 also and with the 3.73's you get AWESOME lowend(not like 4.11's but) and you still have mileage. I took my car on a trip that was a 4 hour drive and i got there on just a little over a 1/4 tanks of gas. I got 29 mpg and i was running 75-80 mph and passed a few times. I was impressed with that considering i was running the gears i have. At 115 i'm just going into 5th gear. I kinda hate that 'cause it doesn't have the topend of the 3.42's in there stock where i was going into 4th at 110mph. just for you though i'd recommend 3.73's. Good gear for lowend and you still get descent mileage.~Cole~

I appreciate it. Sounds like the 3.73's are the way to go.

Well this all depends. I have driven in all manner of LS1 cars with 3.42's, 3.73's, and 4.11 (moser 12 bolt), if you start really modifiying it, i.e. cam work, its going to need gear for that stop and go driveability and giving back that stock feel when you drive it, even in 6th gear on the freeway. I am normally the 1st to say, do less gear but since you have it, dont change until you break it.

4.10s if you plan on running on motor, 3.73's if you plan on running on nitrous.

Hi Folks
The Rear end folks recommend 3.73 gears with a M6 for daily driver - weekend warrior - keep the 4.11. If it is a daily driver switch to 3.73 gears. Had 4.11s in my 97 and it was more than I wanted or needed.
thanks
Bill
