the scoop has been done, and is ugly IMO. and as for the fan, do you really want to spend the money/time spent to wire for a fan? and you wouldnt have any gains out of it.

a fan won't do anything. you have to remember, the air is sucked in by the engine creating a vacuum. a fan blowing air into the intake won't do anything unless is forced (hence forced induction). now, if you're worried about the engine choking for air, don't be. the vacuum created is MUCH too great to not actually be able to get enough air. it'll find a way to suck air from anywhere. if you're worried about it not getting enough cold air, again the fan won't help. there is plenty enough turbulence going underneath and through the engine compartment for your setup to get cold air. and the scoop has already been done, though i can't remember where i found the link, off-hand.

you may be better off by just getting yourself a good cold air kit. A moroso or slp are good ones to use.

I have the scoop on my car you will get some colder air in the motor we tested it before/after with autotap "iat" sensor as far as the scoop it doesn't need to be huge just enough to keep the CAI from sucking most of the air out of the cavity the filter is in BUT if your car is lowered or you are not careful it will get smashed on drive ways, speed bumps, etc, etc, etc

Take it from a guy who spent WAY too much time and money on custom CAIs.
(6 years ago on my 95 bird)

The guys are right, you'd need one hell of a can to make any difference.
There are dozens of "electric superchargers" on the market and none work.
You can try the scoop, but I don't see it doing much.

Moroso makes a nice CAI, I had a "honker" on a previous car.
Stuck with it

If you want other ideas on how to go faster, there are many many ways.
What all do you you have done to it ?
Cold air intake, catback and a chip are 3 awesome first mods.
Things like aluminum driveshafts, 1.6 roller rockers, headers and high-flow cats are great too.

If you really want to go fast, save your pennies in a jar and go with
a supercharger , turbo, heads/cam and/or an easy button.

^^^ I loved coming back after 5+ months and driving it again for the first time... always feels fast... give it a day or two and you back to wanting more.
-------------------
I dont know about that scoop idea. There's another thread mixed in here somewhere of a guy that did that and others were saying that the filter got dirty alot faster and there's alwasy the problem of it getting sloshed with water when its raining and you hit a puddle.

I wanted a "easy button", and bought all the parts while I was away, then never installed them and are for sale.
When I got back from Japan I must have waited an hour of driving before flooring it, felt a little weird after 5 months of shifting with my left hand. I bounced it off the limiter on the 1-2 and the 2-3.

I did the scoop with my cai and it eventually got ripped off. I wouldn't worry about it to much. A good CAI set up will do just fine.
