Top speed of the LT1 f-bods?
#41
Intimidartor? The guy with the Orange TT camaro did close to 200mph, I think but thats modded.....
A few others have gone 160mph in LS1 cars, I know for a fact a LT1 will go 150mph plus stock
Pat G went 180mph in the standing mile with his LS1 with a head n cam with a 150shot..

I don't think I have been much over 155, but I haven't tried very hard, I hit 5800 in 5th and call it quits. It gets there stupid fast at least it seems now that the 4.10's are in there.
Who's car is feeling light at that speed? My car feels real solid, I have all the spohn goodies out back, bilsteins, HD's I think, and the energy suspension bushing kit, and slp subframe connectors. 275/45 tires.

If anything it felt like my car kept getting tighter at speed, stock Z spoiler no ground effects, just brand new 255s Z rated of course. I think just the shape of 4th gens lends itself to good downforce.

Yes, I hate the windows! Solid roof here, but I have the windows deal going on also at high speeds. Well my gaskets aren't rotted, but they look like they are recessing a bit, I get a few drops of water in my car when I wash it.
I wonder if fresh gaskets would help keep the windows sealed at higher speeds??

Stock speedometer speeds can be up to 15MPH in error by the time you reach 150--usually they read fast.
However, I ran 150+ (gear limited-A4) according to the speedo for about five miles, after reaching the top speed. This was on a dead straight, unpopulated at about 4 am.

After that the car was NEVER the same and I don't think investing in complete brand new gaskets would have made a difference. It was noisy and just overall drove like a POS. Thankfully that car didn't last long and I flipped it three times street racing (reason I don't street race anymore) and totaled it.

The car had a stroker motor in it and supercharged with 2.73 gears, it did 212 MPH. He got the spoiler to help with the down force as well. The spoiler is made for the down force at high speeds. It's not coming off by the wind.
That wing is made for real down force, and it looks good

Our speedos are very good, and almost right on for a factory part.....Talk to some road racers in the other section on this forum.
Let me re-word that, they are decent

i think the top speed of an LS1 being 160 is BS...i had my 98 auto with 2.73 gears at 155+ and still had lots more...
all my 93 camaro would do is 115....damn 93 115 MPH gauge rev limiter

I don't know officer, my speedo only goes to 155.
(We had to test the 3-4 WOT shift somehow, I got carried away)
Let off just in time to test the new tires and swaybars on a curve. (Which it handled effortlessly)
Not smart ... probably won't ever do it again
