Default 918 Springs????

I just bought what I thought were 918 springs and they dont appear to fit, will I have to machine the heads to make them fit or did I get the wrong springs?

Thats what I thought too. I got them off of Texas Speed they were the only dual vavle springs they had listed for the lt1 I think it said they were like 1.43 diameter though. I didnt know the actual stock spring diameter so i think that is the problem.

26918 is not a dual spring. It is a Beehive spring

but you need them to run the springs if you got behive springs. The cam has nothing to do with it.

Look at your springs again. Is it only one spring coil or is it one smaller one inside of the other?

If it's two, then you don't have the 918 springs. If it's one, then you need the locators, locks and retainers. DO NOT reuse any of the stock valvetrain. You're likely to break something.

Its definetly 2 springs. I think they are a little overkill for one thing and they dont fit for another.

The cam that is going into the car is a 224/236 .538/.541 114 lsa. What exactly would you guys suggest as far as the valve train goes. The only reason I didnt get everything else is because Texas Speed told me I wouldnt need anything but springs and rods for this size cam.

Wow, I can't believe they sold you that telling you it would work. They are definitely NOT 918 beehive springs.

You MIGHT be able to use the stock stuff, but it's weak in comparison to the RIGHT parts.

I bet they sold you the cheap hardened pushrods too. That's a decent size cam.

Well I ordered the beehives and I am going to return the other springs. The pushrods are good though.

You get what you pay for. Did you get just the springs or the locks/retainers/locators as well? I know you can get the locks/retainers from Taubr and they're in perfect condition. You need the 10 degree +.050" locks for stock heads.
