Trans am hatch
#21
I think I would drive around without a hatch on rather than replace my high rise with a low rise.
I had a formula that had the low rise, but owning my T/A has spoiled me....No pun intended.

IMHO, the high spoiler looks ricer. To each his own.

no history on mine and its not damaged in any way that i can tell and i have had it torn down pretty far doing regular maintenance on it, still cant figure it out. Not to worried about it i have come to the point that i like the low rise just as much as the highrise, highrise for the sportier look and lowrise for a much cleaner look

i dont know im putting the car back to stock to prolly sell it, im gonna start driving about 100miles a day for a while for school so my dad is wanting me to get something a little newer with less miles and he is gonna help me out, shooting for something in the 18$-20k$ price range and im looking at 02 f-body's, 03 cobras and if i can find one i might try to pick up a 1998-2000 corvette since my dad is gonna help me out on the downpayment
its all still up in the air right now but im not going to do anything until i find out if im gonna sell the car or not cause we are also talking about finding a low mileage ls1 motor/tranny and converting my car to a ls1, and id keep the lt1 body on it cause i like it more

I believe all 93's were GT's with the uplevel spoiler and then in 94 they had the regular T/A and the GT and only the GT had the high rise wing. then in 1995 they discontinued the GT and they just had the regular T/A and the high rise spoiler was option T43. Thats how mine is configured. mine had the T43 from the factory. I also have the 3:23 axle on my A4 and the Z rated tires (now 17s) so i have the first gear option on the shifter and the 155mph speedo
I'm pretty sure it was still this way in 1996 as i've seen someone's T/A on here with a low rise that was a 96. the WS6 option mandated the T43 spoiler on the T/A. The T43 uplevel spoiler was most likely made standard on the T/A in 1998.
I found this pic of Hitman's 96 in another thread

I have a Formula WS6 and will be changing to a high rise when I paint the car, the low rise one looks ok on a formula but a T/A just dont look right without the high rise.
Besides that damn lowrise hatch is nothing but a birdbath, mine is always holding water every time it rains ( my driveway has an incline )

ive seen a black t/a around my area before with a low rise and I always wondered about this. My T/a is a 94 has leather and a high rise wing, does that mean its a gt? i don't see any badges to indicate its a gt,but im not sure if they put any on. so how do you know if its a gt? mine has most of the goodies, but it is a hardtop as well no ttop.

did some research on this not too long ago.
93-94 Trans Am's had the V8 Drive train, and that's all that was standard, they had other options, such as leather, different gears (2.73's or 3.23's I believe) but didn't always have those options on them-it depends on how it was ordered.
93-94 Trans Am GT's had the Highrise spoiler, leather, T-Tops, Tranny Perform button (if it was an auto), 3.23 gears (again, if it was auto), and 155 mph speedo.
in 95, formulas and V6's got the low rise spoiler, and TA's got the high rise spoiler-and it remained that way.

I seem to recall reading that all 93 Trans Am's were GT's. I have however seen one low rise spoiler on a 93 T/A but it was a prototype car that was never meant to be licensed. It also had a different looking dashpad top.

NO, the GT was actually a "WS6" w/o the air box and hood because the WS6 wasnt available through 93 - 96, it had the bigger sway bars and suspension as the WS6. i got this information from pete mccarthy, the pontiac god, hes now retired.

I have all the performance options like the 3:23 rear end and Z rated tires/155mph speedo.
I thought ALL 94-95 T/A's and Formulas with the A4 had the Trans Perform button. I know mine has it.
I don't think they offered that button in 93 as the 93 didn't have an electronic transmission.
