Default 95 LT1 fuel pump question...

Has anyone ever herd of a fuel pump going bad after sitting for a year? The 95 Z28 i picked up for a friend would not start after replacing the missing optispark and waterpump, the pump does not come on, i was offered to buy this car for what he has in it and want to know if that is all it could be or not, its a verry nice T-top car with leather and 6 speed, i would love to drive this car to work instead of my 94 GMC till i fix the 89 RS, any input is greatly appreciated, i dont know as much about the LT1s as i do the 3rd gens.

Could be junk. No pump whine at all? Check your fuses and then check for ANY pressure at the fuel rail. Check under the car by the tank for broken wires. If that doesn't work unplug the pump harness where it goes to the body and turn the key and test for power. If you have power back there when the key is switched on you probably have a bad pump. How much is he asking for it by chance? If you can get it cheap enough i'd totally buy it as a DD at least. Or you could fix it up and restore it to it's original glory have fun.~Cole~

Sounds like a good deal if the fuel pump is the problem. You'd want to upgrade for later on anyways

Mine went bad at a friends house after sitting for 15 min..
You can replace it very easily, make a little acess panel under the Carpet in the back of the car.

Ill let you guys know how it goes today.

If you make that little panel, you will save yourself all kinds of trouble, and you aren't really hacking up anything if you make it clean. You will hack more stuff swapping in the T56.

Ok, the thing is now, i bought the car for 2000$ and still owe 300$...big deal, the thing is, it gets power to the fuel pump, ignition module and coil...no fuel pressure...or pump whine, i have a new pump ready....no fire, added new coil, still no fire, is there any secrets or simple *** ground problems? i need to get this new to me better gas mileage than my truck car on the road ASAP. doubt it. It's probably just junk. My blazer went out like that. i went to work one night, truck ran great. Parked it behind work and went out after my shift and nothing. Just dead. Change the pump. If it still doesn't work, then look maybe for a ground. But it's almost a dead shot that it's just the pump gone bad.~Cole~

What about the no spark situation? Brand new opti spark, new water pump and new coil, does a ign. cont. module ever go out from sitting? it was laid up for a year.

My pump kinda faded on me after sitting for a year. Best way to test it is to use the pump prime connector near the PCM. Its this little wire with a plastic tip on it and its attached to a bunch of wires that are either wrapped up in tape or in plastic. It should take less than a minute to find. Take a wire from your battery and run it directly into the prime connector and it should start the pump manually. If it doesnt start, its time for a new pump. Goodluck! Btw, the racetronix kit is pretty bad ***, I highly recommend it! Also cut a hole in your car, if your car is worth 2K, why not cut a hole? What happens if you think you fixed it and it turns out you have another problem? Now you have to drop the rear end/exhaust again, or you could just make an access panel like all new cars have, and fix it. Seems rather logical to me

If your not getting fuel or spark, then buying a new pump won't solve the spark problem. Do you have someone close by with an LT1 with the same style coil (OBDI and OBDII are different). If so, have them come by and just swap coils since that is something that can go real quick and see if that module is bad on the coil.
