Been fighting this decision for quite awhile. The le and ai heads are not too bad in their cheapest offerings. But if you step up to their stage 2 levels they are almost same price as afr heads. So figure for the bit of additional money I am going to go with the brand name heads. I am sure and have seen great numbers from the ported stock heads. But to me when its much past 1000 bucks its time to stick to brand name and afr pretty much have been on many many fast cars at my local track and everywhere else.

Stock ported...
Or a set of AFRs
If you want to go crazy and hog the **** out of them, buy whatever is in your range and go to town with a wicked cam and good set of flowing heads

i would think it depends on whos doing the porting and their numbers. i've seen a stock set with 2.02x1.60 valves and heavy porting flow 284 @.600 which is better than most aftermarkets unless their cnc'd or hand ported. the tfs #s arent that great out of the box (around 250) but, if you buy the ported versions from T.E.A.(total engine airflow) they are around 320@.600 which is the best for the price that i've seen. i believe their around $2300. i know afr makes a real good set of fully cnc'd heads but the price is alot higher. the edlebrocks flow around 230.
