hot cam + valvetrain components sold for $560/set by Summit. Cam install + dyno tune probably like 1200-1500. You'll probably gain 10-20 rwhp. Something in that general range.

well then if you built motors before then your mechanicly inclined enough to know that no one on here can give you a price for install. why dont you grab your local phonebook and place some calls

$500-$700 for the labor. Another $500 for a dyno tune. That's where I got my price quote from. Actually it goes for around $750-$800 in SE Louisiana for install.

Should figure in new springs because the supplied one are not really well suited.

Do you really need a dyno tune for the hotcam? Also why not do LT headers or mids first. Depending on your miles you will more then likely need cam bearings.

a little harsh with the above post from people trying to help you.. but all in all we charge 700 for a head and cam install at my shop and 500 for a dyno tune. you would lose allot of oil pressure if your cam bearings were bad so if you have good oil pressure dont worry about that. That cam is a good choice and im putting that in a guys car right now. I know im no where near you but PM me if you ever need help!

BTW! that cam will make okay power but you will need headers to fully benifit the cam. Sure you know that too. you can even gasket match the intake and heads and take your time with it. the intake is not as big of a deal as the heads but all in all it will be a nice running street car. If you ever need a motor built give us a call..

Come on man, you asked for advice and you say something like that. Try it yourself, it's actually pretty easy. It takes me 15 minutes to get the Water Pump off, from there it's cake. I completely re-built my Engine and just about everything else in the Car except for the Tranny, you kinda get the hang of it after a while..

You most definately need a tune to get the car to run right after the cam. Do you need a dyno tune -NO. Get a canned tune from MadZ28 or PCMforLess and you will be good to go.

I can't help you with shop install pricing as I can't help you as I did it myself (with the motor out of the car for a rebuild).

After I had a mailorder tune that was leaning out almost 13.8 up top at WOT -- I'll probably never get a mailorder tune again.

Every car is different, do it once and do it right. The peace of mind and results from a dyno tune can not be matched.

Another option is getting it tuned by a speed shop along with the install. Cheaper than a dyno tune, but a good tuner will be much better than a mail-order tune. With the hotcam being so common a good tuner could probably closely match his tune to an actual dyno tune.
