What does this do for the car????

LT4 version is different than the LT1 in that its a bit less sensitive due to the LT4 cars having a noisier valvetrain. This was so they would not get any false knock associated with noisier rockers and such.

To make it work right you need to do bolth the LT4 Knock mod & sensor

Thats not what shoebox has said... according to him you just need the knock module.

That cool, I was told to do them bolth by my buddy that works for GM. I am just going by what he told me to do

I'd check the part number I bet the LT4 sensor is the same as the ODBII Sensor... Your buddy who works for gm does he work at a dealer or is he an engineer or something? (trying to establish credentials because if hes more than just a salesman or mechanic and the part numbers ARE different then we may have to take a new line of thinking towards the LT4 KM)

No my buddy is not a sale men he has been working on cars for over 30 years.
I call the parts dep the part# for the LT1 is 16214671 and the LT4 is 16214681. they did not have one for the sensor BUT when I did the one on my car the # on the sensor that came off my car was different from the "LT4 " sensor I got.

I just did this to my car. You get the LT4 knock module, and the LT1 knock sensor (pn 10456...). The LT4 sensor will not work.

i replaced both when i back-dated the computer to OBD1. i replaced the module first. then i noticed i was getting pretty bad knock so i replaced it and all is well.
