isn't it 408, but that's extreme, thin walls and extreme expensive parts. 383 and 396 ci are much more reliable. You're talking cubic inches right?

Yep.

Yeah I was thinking 396.

They are talking about a larger CUI higher compression engine for me. I am thinking they may say 11-1 MAYBE 12-1 396 on the bottle.

Anyone ever put a true roller cam in one?

Whoop there it is!
The second and third page of the article has all the info on why its limited to or around 400 CI.
Something to do with the water jackets, and other things. Check it out.

12:5:1 here....talk to Brian @LME (sponsor)...I"m happy enough...comes a point with all this where you call it quits or just get satisfied....or get a g/f....don't have the g/f yet...but I'm happy with the 396...maybe some juice soon though ...mid 9's are the goal this year and getting a NHRA Drag License just to one day tell the grandkids I did...shrugs..

i was engaged for a while, was still hooked on this car lol.

The girl I have been talking to for a while wants a built black 69 Camaro....

Pepe, what octane gas are you running?

Right now I run 93 or 94. Going to get a stand alone for the nitrous..

I thought I heard somewhere that a guy built a 414-418ci Lt1? My guess is that it didn't last very long though. A 396 should be enough for me when the time comes or maybe just barely over 400 would be fun.

She sounds like a keeper .

I'm running 93 pump gas, when I get the FAST XFI in her I'll ditch the MAF, 02'S and run 116, maybe mix it a little. The nitrous kit I'll eventually do will have a dedicated fuel cell front mounted with some good ole hot stuff in er.

Do you know if a old school SBC 350 block has the same accesory mountins points as the LT1 blocks? I have been thinking about going with a old school 4 bolt main 350 block and swaping over my accesories and ditching the opti and going with a FAST XFI.

well yes and no, there are some minor differences from what I've heard, but I'm rusty. Will not be reverse cooled if it matters that much to you. Before I did that I'd put an LSxx in her...of course it'd be a 6.0L truck iron 427 conversion

Ive thought about going that route but may just stick with my current block.

I was thinking I could sell my motor for like $800 then just get a newer 4 bolt 350 block and that would save the cost of converting to 4 bolt main and all but in ithe end I might just have my current block converted.

With an LSX I would still have to get the accesories and all.

That's funny. . . I'm at .060 and 20+ psi boost. No issues so far and I've made many, many WOT pulls.

I know for a fact that you can go 401 with a .060 bore and 3.875 stroke. Some have fit 4" stoke cranks in there for 414 cid at .060 over. Others still have gone .090 over so 420 is possible.

I just sold my stall so I am on my way to being able to start my build.

This is what I can get my hands on and thingking about.

4 Bolt main 396 LT1 12-1 compressoin (would be nice if I could find a vette LT1 block)

Eagle forged bottom end not sure on the pistons.

Race ported converted aluminum SBC heads

Ported Vic Jr or Super vic with an accufab TB

300 shot threw a prgressive

FAST XFI

TH-400 with a brake and Neil Chance stall

Moser 9 inch with a spool

KOOKS race headers to borla XR-1's

My builder told me he could get some aluminum 23 degree SBC heads cheap and convert them.

Does someone make them that are not high dollar? Maybe he can get TPI aluminum vette heads?

Back in the day the biggest I saw was a 422. The owner turned out to be really shady so the motor itself kinda lost its luster. If you do a search on camaroz28.com you can probably find some info.

With the LT1 you get to a point where there are diminishing returns on ci because you can't get a decent size stroke without doing some extensive work. I know both Ellis and I were entertaining this idea a couple years ago and I decided it wasn't worth the effort when you can get those cubes back with FI for alot less money and alot less headache. Not to mention you won't have your engine builder hating you for life....

Well the plan I think is just to stick with a 396 and build something SICK with an aftermarket block in a few years.
