Guess I'm assuming the balancer is to, since it is on the 400's...haven't actually looked that closely to see if it is offset weighted though..

So dude, did you mount the stock damper on the March UD pulley? It looks as if you didn't, you're lucky you didn't cause more damage.

After all of this, I bet all of you would like to know how it was put on. All i will say, is that it was installed exactly how that picture looks. Except, i don't have that cool looking MSD opti.

really, man I that is weird that you are breaking chains if the balancer is on there. I would take it back to the shop where you got it worked on and say Hey BRO WHAT THE HECK!
Anyways, I didnt call you an idiot? what the heck bro? just kidding

To answere my own question...The flexplate/flywheel is crucial to the internal rotating balancing on LT1 motors - just like a 400 chevy small block. However, the harmonic balancer is not...any drilled holes in it is just for balancing it - it is a nuetral balance componet.....it is, of course, very crucial to take the harmonics out...

ah, I figured that was the way it was set up, but I wasnt sure
Anyways, yea Harmonic Vibrations kill any kind of rotating equipment simply because the Harmonic power series it just adds and adds and adds up finally overtaking the material up and past its yield strength limit

Either way, don't come online and villify March. They are not responsible for the timing chain failure. I have literally 10 years and over 250 1/4mile passes on my March pully on the stock short-block with the stock timing chain. So if your chain broke because of a lack of balancer or because of some other unknown circumstance don't blame March. Don't tell others not to buy March.
In other words DON'T be. " UR an A HOLE."
