stock is 180, you can not get the motor to stay that cool though. Going to want fan temps to be more like 195 or so.
If you have a datalogger go out and see what the temp runs on the highway and then set it so the kick off temp is higher than the cruise temp otherwise the fans will just run whenever the car is warm.

ok sounds like a good idea if i make a another street chip, but i am making a track chip, and i am thinking i will set it at about 175, that way it will run as cool as possible, and it isnt a huge deal that it runs all the time, sound ok? im gonna swap chips when i get to the track, and swap again to get home

Stock is 180. You dont really wanna go 160, 160 is way too cold for any setup. 195s are out there for people who wanna run a lil hotter. I set my fans @ 180 because thats what my car runs best @.

Wow you better go tell all the people sucessfully running 160s that they are not actually working. I think the issue here is your ignorance, you do not understand that an LT1 with 160 stat runs similar cylinder temps to a gen 1 with 180 stat. That said, I think people place too much emphisis on the 160 and a 180 can work just fine, but a 160 causes no "too cold" problems. On a gen 1 I would say a 160 is too cold but this is not a gen 1.
If you have a 180 stat and fans set at 180 you are needlessly abusing the fans as like I said above go cruise oin the highway and see what the temp runs at, the fans can not cool it below that.
