Default Lt1 torque monster...no horspower though.

One thing I love about my lt1 is the immediate torque it produces. With a much needed tire change to some 26" by 16 by 10.5" et streets (not radials), the car pulled off some mid 1.5 60' times, with a best of 1.56 for the day. The car is still full weight at 3720 lbs.
Unfortunately, I have no horsepower to pull me through the quarter in a equally decent time (11.91 @ 113). Looks like I need to look into a new heads/cam package. check out the video

Another vote for getting long tubes, then what kind of port job was done to the heads? Is the intake manifold and throttle body still stock?

heads were done by ARE around 6 years ago. They supposedly flow 270/197@ .600. The intake was ported and the throttle body is 58mm.

So you guys think that longtubes would make that much of a difference over 1 3/4" SLP midlengths/shorties? I was thinking about trying a 4.10 gear. How about that? What about an electric water pump, anyone have any luck with one of these?

Do you have a dyno graph? What are your torque numbers?

on the mustang dyno, torque was around 35?. On the dynojet, torque flashed to around 410. I'm more than happy that the car is able to launch this hard with only a 3200 stall, especially at that weight.

here is a video showing how well it launches. The only suspension mods are lca's, relocation brackets and an airbag in the right rear.

Hey Dave...I wouldn't be too quick to lose the SLP shorties...I got no rwhp increase going from my 1 5/8" shorties to my Kooks LTs....I think I picked up 1 mph in the 1/4...Not a huge gain for the almost $1000 for the headers/y-pipe...You'd probably do well to have Eric Bradby give your heads the once over and look into a bit more lift on the intake side of the cam...You get up to Jimmy Cone in Mt. Airy at all?...There's a cruise in thing up there on Saturday night from 6pm on...I'm planning on being there and I could give you my cam card to look at...

I thought maybe the cam could be a little bigger too. With heads done 6 years ago, I am guessing what everyone knows now might beneft the heads a little more.

The 1 3/4" SLP shorties flat out work so I am with Alan on this one too.
The 846 is a good cam far too often overlooked by kids who think they need something BIG.
I agree too that some updated headwork would be the most likely place to gain much. I would obviously recommend AI but either way I think that is the place to start.

I am hunting 1.5s this season too already did 1.614 with heavy steel wheels a little narrow for the tires, have wider light rims now. 3.73s 3400 stall 27" tire and more like 4200lbs that day.

I think you are doing good with modest well thought out suspension work doing well and a reasonable stall, too many people get carried away and overengineer the car and endup accomplishing little but spending money.

Yeah, I'm all about the 220/230 duration....With good head flow, or verified that was he already has is good head flow, I'd look at up to .570" lift on both intake and exhaust, maybe tighten the lsa a hair for n/a...I like small duration with bigger lifts...The same stuff Lingenfelter has been preaching for years...Great drivablity, no need for huge stalls/gears, and lower rpms to get the job done...They might not make massive peak hp/tq, but do have lots of area under the curve where you can actually use it...

Hey yours is a solid roller ain't it? What duration is it or are you not telling that?
