I have found 1 other person that is experiencing the exact same problem I have. I will explain and hope we can find more that have the same and maybe a couple that have found a fix.

Crusing down the street in my 97 running along in 3rd coming upto a stop lite and slow to a roll. Pop it out of gear and wham it jumps to 2000 rpms and stays there until fully stopped.

Driving down the street and actually trying to do the limit all i have to do is put it in third and the car will speed upto 2000 rpms all i have to do is steer and brake unless going up hill. If i am in 4th the car will do 40 without me touching the gas.

Vaccum is solid holding 17 at idle and i pulled the canister line off 12 hours after driving/running the car and the system was still under vaccum.

I have talked to my tuner madz28 and there are no settings changed that would cause this.

i would say iac valve but you said it goes away when you come to a stop so that eliminates that. does this other guy with the same problem have any similar mods?

that is very peculiar,

my rpms only go up to about 1100 or 1200 when I push the clutch in and roll to a stop

It might be a stupid comment but I'll try, I had something similar once, I found that throttle cable was "bad" right at the connection on the bracket, I had to tape it real well. In my case, I used to accidently hit the gas pedal somehow and that with a bad cable caused it to stay at high rpm unless I kick the gas few times to release the cable to where it was. You problem sounds a little different though, I'd like to know what it was when you find out.

have you raised your idle? i raised mine to high before and when you put it out of gear the idle goes up, and it will also drive itself at a certain speed if the idle is raised to high.

my idle is factory set. per madz28. Alright Hacks that makes three of us.

When was the last time you cut power to the pcm? What have you done to try to fix this?

I have someone telling me that it takes several weeks for the pcm to relearn everything and can cause this rolling idle as they called it.

oh and myblue thanks for the input but thats definitly not my problem. The throttle cable sticking would be one thing which like you said you could kick it and it stop. That doesn't work here...

I dunno? Could the tps cause this kind of problem? I thought the iac cause the iac actually holds the blades open. But the other person experiencing it has cleaned his iac several times with no success...

i had i bad iac valve and my car did not want to idle, so i cleaned it and it did nothing, but i went to autozone and paid like $65 for a new one and put it on then it worked perfect. dont know if the iac valve would raise the idle though.

I'm thinking it would have something to do with the IAC Throttle Follower vs MPH (LT1Edit setting, don't know if TC is same) as that will keep your rpms up when moving. If you haven't changed anything in the programming recently, it probably is the IAC.
