Well just a 75 shot on the LT1 isn't bad at all. If I was doing what your doing on a LT1 I think I'd be crazy, sure. But like I said I'm taking it sortive easy for now. This winter is the big project for the car. You have a LS2? Can I ask if that was terribly expensive? Maybe that's the route to follow, I hear a lot of good things about the LS2. The problem is there probably too new still to find a used one. Seems like the LS1 motors are becoming reasonable, but I think I want to be a set up from that.

I got my LT1 to go like hell, I think it's mostly the weight of the Vehicle, and some of the Engine stuff that I did to it.
I got the Iron version of the LS2, the 6.0l Truck Engine, it's a little cheaper to go. It's the same setup as a F-body LS1, so it's a little easier to wire in the Harness. The actual LS2 has a couple of minor differences, but the same Bore/Stroke and Deck Height. I built the Harnes that will run my Engine, and got it to directly plug into my Car.
LS1's are getting cheap cause people are building the 6.0l Engines. The LS1/LS6 doesn't have **** on what them 6.0l's can do, and that is from people that have owned them both. LS1 is pretty damn good, I wouldn't mind having one in something, but it gets owned by the 6.0l's.

Where did you get them times at, I see average 13.3's - 13.7's..
Then you cam that LS1, and it's close to 11's..
It's interesting compared to the LT1 how minor bolt-ons work that good, glad it's Chevy though..

I know many N/A 383 LT1's on this site turning 9's merv......10's are cheesecake. Sad part is he's also doing it on stock castings and a stock intake...no big AFR's or a single plain. Heard of Ed Wright.....http://www.fastchip.com/Ed-995.wmv

9.95 @136 with a 1.3 60ft with the BACK TIRES....car now goes 9.91 and still spins off the line.

Second line down in pics.....just a lil n/a 383Lt1

If you run IHRA/NHRA classes the LS1 is not legal in a 1998 F-Body, but the LT1 is! GM did not submit the LS1 specs. until 1999. They must have liked the idea of an LT1 in the later body too! There are a ton of 10 second "1998" LT1 cars out there. I did the front end swap on my Formula in late 1998 (Paid $4,000.00 dolars at the dealer!).

For the record. I got my Formula to run way into the twelves with bolt-ons back in the nineties. My cam only motor went 11.3's first time out. There is plenty of potential in the LT1's. It's almost like most of the guys on here have settled for less. Have you ever really looked at some of the specs. on what the LS1 guys are running? Do the same to an LT1 and you would get pretty close to what the LS1 guys are running.

Take Care,

Daren

Us Tulsa Fbody guys believe in the LT1, as long as they continue to make parts for it, it'll remain under my 95's hood.

Yea, but look how much you are going to spend on them parts..good H/C package is atleast $3000, I got my setup for little less than half that, and it outflows 95% of the after market LS1 stuff...
I decided to bring mine up to the current technology, so it can be up-graded to the new stuff when that comes out.

Even though the ls1 does look like a chrysler, I think it looks sick with the blacks halos. Really sets it off. I also like how easy it is to change the bulbs on the ls1's. I would have spent the money else where, but do whatever makes you happy, good luck on the swap

I hear ya, but I'm barely spending anything on this project, just trading one for the other. The only time I went over was when I bought my HID's along with the halos, and that's only cause I wanted them as an addition. What's cool is that I have the resources to paint and all so I sold my old LT1 parts and bought LS1 parts (Front bumper, fenders etc.... really reasonable, because I have to paint them) But it was pretty much I trade one for the other.I spent 250 total for the Halos with HID's so that's how much I took out of my pocket for the project.

One thing with the LS1 Engine, remeber to get the LS1 Steering Rack so you have alot more clearance, there is a big difference. I just got one today for $80. The Linkage piece looks a hell of alot better also.
