Default forced induction advice

I'm getting ready to rebuild my motor and trans, and going with a 355ci setup and built 4L60E. I'm really wanting to do some kind of FI, but was wondering whether I should go n2o, or dish out the $4k+ on a supercharger or turbo setup. The car is my DD, so driveability is important. Thanks.

Well first, n2o is not really considered FI, though it is a power adder.

Second, if you are on any kind of tight budget, you will not want to get involved with FI. The stuff is NOT cheap and you probably will not be able to build a reliable system for 4k whether turbo or s/c (especially if you will not be doing all the labor yourself). Check out this thread. Basically, don't get involved with FI unless you are prepared to expect that your costs will balloon to something more than you had originally expected and don't foresee that to be problem. hope that helps

I would say that N2o is FI, because it does the same thing as a supercharger but with out a belt.

For a DD I would go with N2O because it is not on all the time. and most kit you can pick from 50-175hp

I guess you could say that, I've always thought of nitrous as a little different b/c it doesn't increase the cylinder pressure before combustion.

I would say n2o is your best bet. You dont have it running all the time and the costs would be lower than trying to maintain a turbo or s/c setup.

Either way can be extremely driveable, either way can also have horrible driveability. Just depends on what pieces you put together.

FI is going to be THE most expensive route, initially and upkeep/maintenance. N20 is now and always will be the most bang for the buck.
