I would like somone to explain how wood can be used.....

Slick,

The wood on the intake runner smooths out the air charge going in. Take something like a bowl, cut the bottom off and mold it to the intake runner. Thats just an example, not exactly how its done but at least you can picture it.

Harold at portpros is building my TT LT1 with ported AFR Heads,I have never had such a good customer service and i´ve contacted alot of shops

I have a set of All Pros getting worked over at AI, Phil and Ron are great and turn out a good product from what I have seen.

The normally aspirated LT1 record is held by Joe Overton at a 9.20 ish.

all these port companies are around the same price range. which one would be the best bang for the buck

Exactly! While they are similar in pricing, and may very well be similar in performance, each has their own strengths and weaknesses. Remember though, these guys hand port heads (no CNC machines) so there will be differences between pairs from the same company.

Just because Joe O, or Tony Shepard, or whoever got x amount of flow with their heads, doesnt mean YOU'LL get the same. You may get more, you may get less. Its custom work done by HAND... The "H" in handmade if you will, is the natural variance that is inevitable.

All the guys mentioned above have done well and will do a great job for you, just pick the one that makes you most comfortable.

Always heard good things about Port Pros... as well as LE and AI. I have personally had three sets of heads sent to LE.
