I only ran 2.5 because of clearance issues. I have resonators and bullets so my set up is no help sorry. The reason for my post is to get that into your mind. Clearance is tight under there.

Well, while I don't quite have this set-up on an LT1, I do have it on my LS1 ('02 Z28). The overall set-up consist of Kooks 1 3/4" LT's, no cats, 3" H-pipe, and a pair of Flowmaster 1-chambers dumped before the axle. It was a custom set-up that Speed Inc installed and they did a heck of a job. At stock-ride height, the ground clearance is fine (4 inches off the mufflers). And I haven't scraped on anything yet. As for the power gains over my old highflow catted Y-pipe set-up and 3" cat-back, peak only increased a little (3-4rwhp), but under the curve the gain was nice. You could immediately feel a noticeable difference in low-end to mid-range torque/throttle response (much easier to fry the tires).
Lastly, even though I still have stock internals, this set-up is LOUD. Loud at idle (just thumps), very loud on acceleration, and is defeaning at WOT. I mean, the tone is downright pure evil. Honestly, the reason I like it is that it sounds nothing like your typical LS1. Sounds just like a 1st gen Camaro or early 70's Chevelle with Flowmasters when you rev it up. So, I'd imagine it would be just as sweet on an LT1. A cam would be the icing on the cake!

I've never heard the 1-chambers on an LT1 before, but those mufflers and the word rasp don't even go together on the LS1 motor...
