Guys, the BBC guys laugh at both the LT1's and LS1 crowds. So no matter how mighty we feel try racing cars like these:

http://racingjunk.com/post/723259/19...BC-Camaro.html

And that's not the fastest by any means.

That time in your sig, is that all motor? And if so can we have some specs on the car including weight?

No , I wish. That's on a 150 shot. Hoping to go solid roller over the summer and get high mid 10's NA. But until I do accomplish this it's all a pipe dream, lol.

Doesn't really matter lol I miss my TPI. I think it was much faster than it should've been for what was done (free mods and tune).

No way in hell, stock for stock LT1s eat the L98 cars alive, most L98s are high 14s at best stock where as most stock LT1s were low 14s. I street raced a great many, they could keep up out of the hole, but past that wasnt ever really a race. TPI also stops making any power way before an LT1 does so that has a lot to do with it also.

Like it was stated some are cool but then you get the others. All the haters makes me think they owned a Mustang in a previous life
the "ls1" is a loose term,
like the engine in my dd is a 375 ci "ls1"
the "ls1" motor starts at 3.9 and even smaller for the 5.3/4.8 motors,
but goes all the way up to 4.25 if u include the LSx block and Warhawk block
the lt1 is good platform compared to other engines, but i would not build a
lt1 based engine again, if i were forced im afraid i would have to settle for a sbc if i couldnt build an ls1 motor. the main reason would be the heads andintakes options available for the sbc and lsx motors among other components.

having come froma mid 10 sec. 383 lt1 motor and a previous 8-10 psi turbo lt1
cars. and having built about 5 lt1 engines from the machining and up.
among the 25+ opti spark units i have replaced, (i got it down to under an hour) remove and replace.
i guess u could say i was hard core lt1 way back in 97-99 when the ls1's
were in there infancy. and i was running 10's in my lt1
and then i bought a 98 WS6.
for some reason the younger lt1 owners are the most defensive. for some reason they are the first to jump the gun, and take advice as an offense.
because im an LS1 man.
ive alredy been there.

fact remains the same tho.... 600-700 hp as a goal (my next year goal), any platform is well suited. Ls1 based motors will make it "easier" but any motor is capable. But of course I wouldn't go for that big power without thinking about some sort of F/I

Your sig tells me of the green eyes you have for the LS1.

Just build whatever motor you want and don't dwell on the fact that you have the "inferior" engine.

what really gets to me is the fact that even GM High tech magazine only see LS motors. With the exception of this project they started, every issue just has LS engines and turbo v6 features. The last couple of shoot out always say at the end, and were sorry to say that at the last minute we lost out LT1 competitors. They probably never tried. They could have walked down the street and told the first two lt1 they saw to get there A$$'s to the track. I would place part of the problem on the magazines, we dont get featured. I cant remember the last Gm high tech i picked up that had an Lt1 feature in it that wasnt an impala.

Why would they?

Its GM high tech so they are showing what's new and up and coming.

Not what USED to be.

This is so ridiculous. We are all Fbody as stated before. LT1 LS1 LS2, who cares. The average everday person that sees our cars doesnt see a motor designation, they see a nice car that sounds good. My brother has an LS1 with substantially less mods than mine and we are always close. Its a back and forth thing. Sometimes he wins, sometimes I win. Then we remod and go at it again. Nobody cares because its FUN. Thats why we drive these cars right?(or atleast why I do). GM took the LT1 and improved on it, and got the LS1. It gets better gas mileage, better ignition system, more power etc. They took the crappy-spark and threw it away for the individual coil system. Went with an aluminum block and so on. I own an LT1 and I love it but atleast I can see that the LS1 is not some adversary but a newer version of the LT1 with all the right improvements. Having said that, can't we focus on the real enemy here.... FORD!!!!

yes.. i wish i could have found a ls1... I like the body... i like the motor... (since im a t/a guy... i don't like the ls1 camaro).... but i didn't... and my car was my graduation present cuz my dad rocks. lol. Traded off my bagged dime and got this car. Who would bitch about a free car no matter what it was? Im going to keep it forever... it represents me making it threw a 1/4 of my life and its what I have to show for it. The car means a lot to me also because its from my dad.

Naw, you just misunderstood him Merv. What he was meaning is that he beats the drivers unconscious so they can't compete against him, thus moving onto the next race.
