Default needed to vent, and also need some help.

well I drove 5 1/2 hours to my hometown today to go and pick up my car from the mechanics shop for the first time (with the new 383 in it). So me and my father went out there to tune it with our mail order tune. after we tuned it we started it up, and it seemed to run fine, we let it sit there and idle for about two minutes. then we started driving home. this is where it gets bad On our way home we realized that it wasn't running right, and seemed to be flooding out on fuel. so after about 5 minutes of driving, we decided to pull over and check it out. this is where it gets worse I was following in the SUV and my father was driving the car, when he turned into the parking lot I saw some watter come from under the car. then when he stopped I pulled back where the air filter goes, and a BUNCH of watter came out. ... so then we just pulled it back to the house on a car hauler. I took off the plastic from under the car so i could look at the air filter, AND IT WAS SOAKED! so then I took off the elbow part that goes to the throttle body, and there was dirt, (i will put up pics), then the whole donkey dong, part that hangs down, was filled to the top with watter.

SO... DO YOU THINK MY BRAND NEW MOTOR IS RUINED! I AM PISSED AND WANT TO CRY AT THE SAME TIME!
do you think i can save my motor, or is it trashed!? I think i am going to change out the oil tomorrow and see if there is any grit. then just play it by ear from there.

You've got a water leak. I'd tear it down. You've got a big problem, but probably not too late to save most of your motor.

Well, I'd wait till you drain the oil. If there's water in the oil, then you for sure have a problem. Otherwise the CAI could've been left outside before it was installed. Being at idle, probably didn't have enough suction to take in the water from the dong, but once it started getting driven, between suction and the bouncing around, it got in.

you have to find out where the water is coming from and fix it before you do anything else.

With the others, you have to find out where the water is coming from. Where the hell is the shop in all this? Why didn't you take it back to let them figure out what they missed or did not connect properly?

To me, it looks like they hooked up a water line to your throttle-body where it should have the vent tube going to the passenger side valve cover!!! Check out the arrows in the image. Does the hose with the green-solid line go to your radiator? If so, it's hooked up incorrectly and you're sucking water directly into the TB. You can see by the blue arrow that they capped off the other side of the water lines that run through the throttle-body. I drew a dashed line where it normally goes from the factory if you're running the coolant through the TB.

I would suggest that you don't even run the coolant through the throttle body. Follow the instructions here: http://shbox.com/1/tb_bypass.jpg and move that 3/8" rubber cap (blue arrow) to where the solid green arrow is pointing. Hopefully, they re-installed the metal "steam pipe" tube that goes to the back of the heads. Once you refill it with coolant, be sure to bleed the air out of the system.

Upload some more pics (zoom out a little) so I can see how other things are hooked up.

I don't think too much damage could have been done, if any, by running some water & coolant through the intake, but you could "hydraulic" a piston if a cylinder fills up with water, and that would be very bad = bent rod, etc.

thats what it is, your crankcase ventilization line on the passenger side valve cover is supposed to go there, its shooting strait coolant into the throttle body were the crankcase vapor is supposed to go, you need to bypass it like he said and put the vent. line back on the tb

U tell 'em Amy.

Change your oil and filter run it for 10-20 mi. and change it out again. Get all that **** out. If it's all good and she's not overheating i wouldn't worry about it. As long as she didn't overheat originally you'll be ok.
I agree they f'up at the shop and hooked up the water line to your T/B. Where did you take it to Dumbasses or Us Shop?
I would go with T/B bypass mod this time.

the first pictures were meant for legal purposes to sue. but then we realized we wouldn't get anything out of it. this is just a guy that has been doing work for us for a while. he said he could do this swap no problem. because he used to work at the dealer and did a couple there. Now I realized that he is an idiot. and do not want him touching my car again. I hope he didnt ruin my brand new motor, because I dont have money to fix it right now. will prob have to wait till I grad college. before i will have the money to have it torn down again.

I took some more pics. so maybe you can help me find or fix some more hoses. if he messed up on that, now i am scared of what else he could have messed up. I think that the car got rained on, with the hood popped, and that is how all the watter got in the air intake, only thing that makes sense to me. but i did find some coolant, coming out from under the car when we stopped. I think that was from the hose being hooked up wrong.

the motor looks like a complete mess!

oh and the hose didnt reach. so i'll just go to the store and get a longer one.
