Ok back from the dead...

I am a little confused...is the box on the firewall not connected to the box under the dash...In other words, removing the box on the firewall DOES NOT mean the piece under the dash has to be removed also?

I am trying to remove my AC and KEEP my heat. I am a little confused how this is done...

The way I did it is one of the ways to keep heat. The Box on the Fire Wall is the same box under the Dash..
I cut the face of it off and put the Panel there.

See, thats what I thought...but I also thought the box under the dash contains the blower motor and heater core too?? Does it not? I just figured once you removed the piece under the dash you had no more HVAC at all

Under the Dash behind the Fire Wall has the Blower Motor and the Heater Core..that is how you can still keep the Heat and have no AC..all that stuff sits behind the Fire Wall.

Ok, I think I understand now...so basically I can pull the box out and cut off the half that would normally stick in the engine bay and then reinstall the side under the dash? That makes sense

Here is a pic of what it looks like with the choppin' done to it..
I put that flashing piece in it to divert the Air into the Heater Core..the stock one has a piece there you have to cut out of the way.

I was thinking about doing the same thing since i already have the other ac stuff out, kinda wanted to keep the heat too (even though i live in florida, the winters get a little cold here and there). Minus the all the other ac stuff, how much would you gain from just removing the stuff near the firewall??

So you really dont even lose that much weight? I will probably do it anywayz when i rebuild the motor, but just wondering for now if it would drop some pounds.

So you (The Merv) did not remove any part of the dash, you just cut from the outside to do this? Also what did you do with the evaporater core lines? Nice clean job from the pics! Also explain more on the deflector, wouldn't the metal on the outside be good enough to deflect the air.

The reason the Deflector piece is there is cause that is actually a Duct for the Blower Vent Air. The piece that normally goes there is solid, and once you bolt on your Panel, the Blower would blow into nothing..

And yes..I didn't do anything with the Dash, just cut the outside off..

What did u do with the evaporator core? I see the lines do not come through the panel u made. It looks like from your pic that u would have to remove from the inside? I'm asking so many ?'s because I would like to do it and u did a good job.

This is off topic, but what is the setup u have in your last pic. Some kind of temp. sensor in a coolant hose.
