Recomend oil brand
Having said this, 96capricemgr is usually correct with his words and advice posted here. Look past his brash ways. Maybe he could use a course in communications but he knows his way around an LT1.
I ONLY use German Castrol 0-30 weight in all my cars. It's commonly available at Auto Zone. If you wander into an Auto Zone in the NYC area and the shelf for it is empty, I was just there and cleared them out. I try to keep 30-40 quarts on hand in my shop. Anything else, including all other grades of Castrol might be good to fry fish or fries in.
The research has been done. Don't bother, just get the GC and be set knowing you've bought the best oil on the market. Make sure it says "Made In Germany" right on the bottle.
Amsoil I said holds it's viscosity well till it gets old that is in no way a negative comment just a comment on reality, Amsoil is one of the oils that genuinely can go MUCH longer than most people use it. The 25,000 mile thing they recommend I feel is irresponsible because few people actually meet the recommended conditions, but under proper conditions it can last that long.
Here is the problem you are an ignorant, foolish kid incapable of intelligently processing information which is what the modern "education system" strives to turn out these days. If you were capable of processing information you would not have read what I wrote as a slam to Amsoil.
It all comes down to the old saying "give a man a fish and feed him for a day, TEACH a man to fish and feed him for life", how that applies here is people always want the quick answer when they would be MUCH better served asking WHY. As in WHY is one oil better than another. That can be answered by testing used oil, one oil is better because it allows less wear and lasts long.
People these days seem to think a marketing department with a big budget means best but what I ask of an oil is not to see it's name every time I turn on the TV or open a magazine, I ask it to protect my engine from wear so that is my measure of good.
Should also note that what racers use does not mean best on the street a few HP gained but traded for a little extra wear is worthwhile when a motor will be refreshed seasonally, on a street car that would be foolish though.

Love to buy it when it's on sale
Castrol Syntec these days has gotten better. On part if not better than M1 oils. I'd have no fear running another castrol syntec weight in my car.

Well you'll only find it at Autozone. If you want I can give you the SKU and your store can see if they have any in stock or any that could be brought in from other "sister" stores.
