You people that insist it is not an LT1 unless it has stock intake and an opti are freakin clueless!
A modification is a modification as on any other engine. People with LS1's upgrade their intakes to LS6 intakes. Does that not make them LS1 anymore?
I have seen some LS1's go with a belt driven front mount distributer........does that make them not an LS1????? I have seen some people go to sheet metal intakes. Does that not make them LS1 or LT1 or SBC anymore???? As long as you stick to the roots...it is the same.
In my book as long as you have an LT1 reverse cooled block and LT1 style reverse flow 23* heads......you are an LT1 engine no matter what mods you put on it.
End of story.

We'll nomatter which way I go LS or stay with LT it going to cost $$$, my only problem with going LS, is the wiring issue....Cause I would love to put an LSX motor in my car but it just seems to be a wiring nightmare...OB1 to OB11, gauges, etc. So I will probaly look at 355 or 383 for know!

Red, talk to Merv. I'm sure he would be MORE than happy to walk you through it, since he's in the process of doing just that himself. Made his own harness from my understanding. Or he hacked one together, either way, it looks nice.

There is a shop here local selling 6.0 iron blocks for $400.00 with crank! I thought that was pretty reasonable. From my understanding he checks them out and then bores them to the bore you desire. But I do need to get with Merv after he is done and see how it came out and what all he had to do. Be nice to find a donar LS1 car, that might help some!

didn't realize that..... either way it's recognized as the fastest LT1 and quickest.... cuz it's an LT1 block and reverse cooled heads.... so he's still the record holder. nobody is going to take it away from him for not having an opti or an LT1 manifold....
