computer problems... hope someone on here can give me a little bit more info
i have a 1996 trans am that has a lt1 from a 1995 camaro in it...i bought it off someone and they didnt have too much info to give me except that it was a rebuilt motor out of a 1995 camaro.
the problem: the car is throwing codes for the o2 sensors, crankshaft position sensors and the MIL not working. the car runs and drives so i know there isnt a problem with the crankshaft sensors. i belive its a problem with the computers in the car. i spoke to a couple of people and they told reflashing the computers will not fix these problems. would trading computers from a 95 camaro work? would they work in a 96 trans am?
any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

So are you using the 1996 PCM for the 1995 Engine..I believe that it will work with the Gauge Cluster, but I do know that if it's a A4 you definately need a OBDII PCM, or you need a 1995 4L60E cause they are different.
I think so... not totally sure. I had to get a new computer for my car when it stopped sending the right codes to my transmission. I'm not sure how far they had to narrow it down to get the computer. 94 lt1 or 94 lt1 firebird. the computer cost me like $150 new or something like that.
I believe that the Cluster will work..cause I had to wire my 1999 LS1 Harness for my '95 Gauges, and the Gauges were all the same till '98..1999 is when they went digital.
1995 are all OBDI, 1996 up are all OBDII. Half of '95 had the OBDII Data Link Connector Port, mine is one of them, it helps.

the guages work fine...except for the MIL not lighting up. the car is a manual so there is no issues with the tranny. the car runs fine also it just wont pass emissions because of the codes. im going to clear the codes and drive the car and hopefully it might work if they guy who owned the car before me never gave the car enough time to re-learn on the computer.

ok thanks that just made a few things click. i didnt even think that a 95 probably doesnt have some of the sensors. should getting an ecu out of a 95 camaro fix all/any of the problems or do i need an ecm and an ecu? and then will have to have them re-flashed to this car or should they re-learn themselves?

Any 95 PCM (it's called PCM for 94+) will work as long as it's for an M6. If it's from an A4, you'll have to reflash it with an M6's tune. Or send it out, which is better since then they'll tune it for more performance as well 
The 95 motor does not have a crankshaft position sensor, so that is why you are getting that code. You can convert your 96 to the 95 computer or you can tune that code out of the 96 (so it doesn't look for the sensor anymore). Either method will fix that.
Not sure on the MIL error, just swapping to a 95 motor shouldn't cause that not to work, sounds like another issue there.
