Default instrument cluster

does anyone know how to set a gauge cluster to your mileage, like if you replace the one you have and the new one has more/less miles than your car has, ive always like the 93 cluster better, and i was wandering if there was a way to set one to the mileage that your car has

take the odometer assembly apart and manually reset it... Did it on mine after the rebuild and it was fricken easy, as long as you have a mechanical mind.

I reset mine to zero because we replaced everything nearly. New suspension, tranny, brakes, engine, etc...

You can jsut take your odometer assembly out of the old cluster and put it in the new cluster. Resetting the odometer like the guy above is just asking for a lawsuit if someone else ends up with the car someday and it's traced back to you. Why the hell would you do that anyways.

/\ That's actually highly illegal.

And talking about doing it in a public forum isn't all that, well, recommended...

To move the thread along, I suggest calling your local DMV (whatever) and getting their take on your plan. You won't think you won the lottery, is my guess.

im not talking about resetting it to zero, thats kinda crazy, im talking about matching it to your old odometer, so it would be right.

not really true, most states have a mileage exemption after 10 years and you can always tell a potential buyer that you changed the cluster
