Default Just installed my Jet hots few ?

I installed my Jet hots. what a pain in the ***, infact Im still looking for something that will hook up with the gay egr **** on the header. but that another story.
I have a few questions about my new headers:

I tightend my headers to the heads pretty damn well, Can I expect exhaust leaks? Is that common? I sanded the headed before i installed my headers

Also should I use header wrapped on the header by the heater box on the passenger side? the header is about 3/8 inch away from it... will it melt it?

If there was a plug wire in the wrong spot on the opti would I know right away? it seems to run decently smooth...,.

thanks guys, any input will help

I always check my header bolts when I'm doing work on the car. When I first installed them they would be just slightly loosened, but now they stay tight. With the heat I just check them randomly

This will help with routing the wires..

Both went in from the bottom, I had to jack the motor up when i went through the passenger side. If you have any more question feel free to ask.

I have Hooker Jet Hot coated LTs. I don't have the heater box in the car anymore but when I did it melted just a bit where the header came closest but nothing severe.
I have been running MSD superconductors for around 30k with my LTs and have never had an issue with burning plug wires.
I too retighten my header bolts once every 2 weeks or so. After a couple months of doing this you will notice you can go longer and longer in between checkups.

If careful routing does not stop your boot burning issue you can always run heat sleeves.

Just pick up the sleeves. I've never run them cuz I've never burned that many wires.

I hear you! I spent a lot of time on my headers and wrapped them too! So that should help them from melting wires. If nothing else it is much easier to do a tune up! I know someone is going to give me crap for my stock air intake... take a look:

That header wrap is kinda expensive but probably not a real bad idea with uncoated headers (at least keep the dirt and stuff away, especially on the bottom). Wish I had done that instead of buying the coated Hookers. What a waste of $$$ IMHO.

the header wrap will rust your headers even quicker. they basically hold the water right on the metal and don't really dry out completely. probably better than uncoated though i would think.

Yes you will notice the headers will be trash much sooner than if you had left them painted.
Its done now though so let us know how long they last before you start having issues.
