well it wasn't in the red but it was alot hotter than any other car i had ever driven, but i found out it was normal after i researched LT1 cooling systems so i decided for the fan switch because i hated having to shut off the engine when it was at about 230 right before it was about to kick the fans on. so now when i pull into my neigboorhood i run the fans at full blast just before i park it at home. just a peace of mind kinda thing for me but i can imagine it would be great for running the fans to keep the car cool in the staging lanes at the track as well.

My car runs at around 180-190 when at cruising speed, but would overheat in a heartbeat if I hit traffic or let it idle, but this was because the PCM was only seeing 184* when the car was well into the red zone and boiling over, so it never turned the fans on.

I do have another PCM to install soon as I get off my @$$ and build the desktop tuning setup and reflash it (PCM came out of a 'B' car). But for now I wired in a ground switch to the PCM, which is 3 position, Off, low speed, and high speed. Now if I hit moderate traffic, I flick on the low speed fans, and if I hit heavy crawling traffic, or leave it idling, I hit high speed fans. It never gets above 200* now, and it cost me all of $5 for a DPDT switch from Radio shack.

Ohh, and I have the 160* thermostat installed as well.
