I like mine at 3k, but I could prolly even go to 3200 or 3500 and still be happy in my DD. I got a stock converter restalled and it works well. I have not driven an aftermarket one but I hear those are better and lighter. when I did mine I didn't have the $$$$ for a nice one

I don't think anyone reputable deals in stock 12" converters restalled as high as 3K. You might think it is decent but that story will change if you ever run a real converter.

I would say go with a 2800-3400 Edge, Yank or Vigilante. I have had a couple Edge converters now due to changing application and have been very happy. His prices on any repairs or modifications down the road are great too. Something to consider because if a tranny blows the converter is often damaged or at least needs to be opened up and inspected, or if you endup wanting more stall.

yea from what all I hear I would go with one of those 3. my stock one is ok but I'll have to take 96capricemgr's word on the difference it is from a good aftermarket one.

I had a "level 10" brand 2600 9.5" breifly and it was garbage compared to the Edge 2800 I replaced it with. Drove worse and ran hotter, so it is not just a size thing, the knowledge level of the person specing the internal setup means a lot too.

The Level 10 was a $700+ billet cover converter, the Edge even today is I think just a little over $500 doensn't have a fancy billet cover though but the internals are setup right.

I liked my Edge when I got it (haven't got it to the track yet). A buddy of mine is Mustang only and I was in a situation where I was borrowing his shop and it needed to be driven to the exhaust place. So he takes it up there for me and when I see him again he says "Man! That stall is perfect for that car!"

That should be good for the Hot Cam. Maybe even a 3200.

3000 is fine with modern knowledge of how to achieve that stall and being a lockup converter. IMO I think most f-body owners will be happy with even 3200, you bought a car that is more about speed than comfort.

Even most b-body guys that expect their cars to be grocery getters in addition to speed are happy in the 28-3200 range.

How much do stalls usually help you at the tracks, lets say a 2800-3000 stall for example. I'm running 13.80's-14 flats right now and I'm thinking about getting one.

i have my stock converter restalled to 3000 and its pretty damn accurate when it flashes. brake stalls to about 24-2500 at the track with a good burnout. i've never been in a car with a "real" converter like caprice says, but im curious to see how big the difference actually is. if i dorve one and it was a serious enough difference I'd definitely buy a new converter. my interest has been peaked.

Depends on how streetable you want the car or how radical of a setup you can handle for daily driving. Bolt-on cars I personally would stay from 3000 to 3400.
