More application info please? If you have a motor that truely needs a better gasket I find it hard to believe you would ask such a question here. Which leads me to believe there is a problem you think you need a better gasket to fix but that will leave the underlying problem.

its on my buddies lt1. he claims to be making around 500 hp, but he keeps blowing heads gaskets after 15 min. Dont know if he's checked to see it the head is warped or not. He said he couldnt find any copper gaskets.

Maybe it's time to switch to some better head bolts?

I agree with what was already stated. Sure sound like there is a problem if he is blowing gaskets out that quickly. Was the block and heads decked?

Are the gaskets actually blowing out or is he just leaking coolant and thinking he's blowing the gaskets?

What type of head bolts is he using? Sometimes studs can be a real PITA to get sealed!

Also, you really don't want to run copper on a street car. As Chopstix stated Cometic gaskets would be a good choice, but the block and heads need to be prep'd with the correct surface finish in order for them to seal.

i'm not sure what all he checked. i kinda wondered if he may have a warped head also. His intentions are for the drag strip. he plans on putting a supercharger on it soon also. i'll send the info to him. thanks

There are a lot of 500hp LT1s out there running stock type gaskets. Either there is a mechanical problem or there is a problem behind the wrench, either way a gasket aint going to fix it.
