I bought the Trans-Dapt CAI when it was available. The same as the Moroso and it was about $100.00. I only wish the filter was a little bigger as it looks to have plenty of space under there.
All CAI's perform about the same. I've concluded that the metal tube ones soak up more heat and aren't as good when all is hot. These cars do get hot under the hood!
I'm toying with the idea of getting the Ram Air hood just to help keep underhood heat down. Even with it, I'd still use the CAI. It's been shown (somewhere) that a CAI is better (power wise) than a Ram Air hood.

I've been thinking about trying to make the faux vents on the stock 93-97 hoods, working. Or do like a race car and have 1-3 vent scoupe down into the engine compartment. Only problem is I'd want a spare hood to do all this one. For 2 reasons, one being the obvious of totally ******* up a hood for this experiment and two, I'd want my car looking nice untill it's done. The latter leaves not wanting my daily drivers hood to be a "Ricer" work in progress lol

On my hood, I actually cut those vents out and painted both of them black while they were off (93-97 camaro). It looks good because my camaro is white. I don't know if it helpes keep down the engine compartment temp. but it looks pretty cool lol.

haha-formula350- that rocks-the thing about the steam. alot of people dont realize that just venting that heat makes a difference.
i had a moroso on my car when i bought it.the filter was very dirty! i ended just switching out the whole cold air with a k&n though-big difference but i think it was mostly from the clean filter i put on it. i dont think the guy i bought it from knew what he had. it ran hot when i got it and i think he thought the heat was going to kill it sooner or later but i fixed that with a low temp thermo and its fine now-haha. the guys at the shop i have used so far were impressed with the condition it is in and they see it all!

I have the Moroso, it was on the car when i bought it. They claim an increase of 16-20 hp and looking at my times I would say that is about right. That is my only real mod and the car does run about 2/10 faster than it would bone stock. Unfortunatly mine is missing the metal plate so the filter is just clamped onto the plastic. It has fallen of once or twice while I was moving it around, for example to remove the MAF sensor. Never while driving though. It is a PITA to remove, I have to remove the splash guard AND the air dam to get at it.

I like the Moroso as well, the FIPK is cool too.
I've tried the homemade route a few times on the 95,
it never worked anywhere near as well (or looked as good) as the Moroso I eventually put on there.
The 93 came with ram air, I decided to keep it that way.

From my tunning at my shop go with a plastic to keep away from the heat soak. Any metal that you add under the hood will retain heat long than plastic will air raid is what i use when ever possible but they don't make one for the camaro or firebird which sucks on a dodge ram with a heim that i tuned for my brother a 6whp min gain to a max of 31whp thats my 2 cents take it or leave it whatever you chose will be better than factory air box setup
