A friend of mine has a 97 Firebird Formula and he broke a harness on something on the passenger side of his engine, behind the throttle body. He said it's black, on top of the intake, with a wiring harness (which is what he broke) and it's about one inch by three inches. We couldn't think of what is was, nor could we find it in our Haynes manuals. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks-Jon

If it's bolted to the top of the intake it's the map. If it's on the side of the intake it's the EVAP.

 

Sounds like the Map..got a Green Connector?

 

He said yes, it has a green connector.

 

Every LT1 ive ever seen has a broke map connector.

 

 

Please do not come look at mine then. I don't want it to break on me.

lol mine is fine... and besides, the engine doesn't even use the MAP sensor. its just there for diag purposes.

except for the 93s of course silly speed density

 

the little catch/retainer clip on the green connector on mine is broken. Its plugged in and always stayed that way but, the pins themselves are all thats keeping it plugged in. hehe... haha.. . need to grab one from a local junk yard or something someday.

 

if anything, the center console is always broken on every fbody... compared to the map

Mine was perfectly fine, til I lent my car to my friend when I went to japan on deployment. Got back and the damned thing was broken. Yeah, haven't had a broken map sensor yet though.

 

I fixed that problem..mine broke too.

I think the top dash pad is almost as common. I know mine is shot to hell.
