oil capacity

im about to change my oil.. an i realized i dont have a owners manual and i just got this lt1 auto.. an i have no idea how much motor oil it holds? its a 94 formula a4!

Exactly 5 quarts with oversized Fram HP4 filter.

it holds over 5 quarts with the oversized filter. I just buy a big 5 quart jug and pour most of it in then check but either way you should be right around 5 quarts

haha, i just bought a cheap oil to put in it right now, the oil thats in it sat for 2 years. so i dont wanna put good **** in and have it all gross and grimmy.

so what oil should i do guys!?

I run 10w-30 synthetic mobil 1. It's all personal preference which brand tho. You can also try using seafoam to help clean out some gunk in your crankcase

mobil 1 synthetic is what most of us use. weight usually depending on your location.

i live in 110 in the summer and 30s in the winter. i bought this gunk motor flush stuff, it was on sale at wallymart. i dont know if i should try it or not? what do you guys think?

Just run 0W40 M1, it will clean out the inside of the engine itself. And mine takes ~5.75 quarts with the longer filter if I drain it with all 4 wheels in the air.

The majority of oil addictives are a scam, just stick with a good quality oil.

um for those that say they buy the 5 quart jug, that jug is only a gallon, and a gallon is only 4 quarts. you might want to look at that during your next oil change and get an extra quart to go with it.

GM factory spec is 4.5 quarts with the filter...and 4 quarts without, all of you may be over filling your oil system...creating some drag on the crank=loss of horsepower. I personally use 20-50 royal purple with lucas oil full syn addative.
