New to f-bodies and need some advise
I recently bought my first f- body and have about $1000 to put into the performance of it right now. I was thinking intake and exhaust, SlP twin cone intake and loudmouth cat-back with headers and y- pipe. Can all of this be done for $1000.
And also the Loudmouth systems i've heard on the net sound really raspy and kind of annoying on the top end. I seem to like the gmmb though. How does this system differ in price from the slp? And is it emissions legal?

If you install everything yourself, it can. It will just be over $1k though, then you have to factor in shipping (unless it's free)...
SLP cold air kit - $199.99
SLP Loudmouth catback - $377.95
SLP Loudmouth kit if 96/97 - $35.95
SLP Loudmouth kit if 93-95 - $79.95
*You don't have your car listed in your sig nor did you state what year your car is, but to use the Loudmouth on the LT1, you will need the kit to get it to fit. You'll have to pick the kit for whatever year you have. Hopefully, you have a 96/97.
Pacesetter LT headers - $354.99
Pacesetter y-pipe - $129.97
TOTAL if you have a 96/97: $1098.85
TOTAL if you have a 93-95: $1142.85
Hope this helps.

yeah, that helps quite a bit. I don't know how to add all that info to my sig, but anyways the car is a 93. Why do you say that hopefully it's a 96/97?

And to get your car's info in your sig, just click "User CP" up at the top of the page. And then click "Edit Signature" on the left side. And you can edit your signature from there.

well you can just go with the simple stuff now. CAI (moroso or k&n is good). some pacesetters are cheap you can find some on here for like 200 dollars, you can also do some free mods, slp loudmouth or magnaflow are good cheap exhaust systems but if you add LTs to the LM then you are in for alot of rasp.

I have the loudmouth with stock manifolds and I like it but to each his own.
Also I was wondering, I have a 95 z28 and I dont have the kit for the 93-95 on my car aka "bendy piece of tubing" but I do have the hangers shown for the 96-97 on my car which I believe are right behind the cat. WTF!?

I would go with:
Pacesetter LT's, $300 brand new off Ebay. $200 used off here
Pacesetter ORY $129 brand new off Ebay.
Magnaflow catback $350 brand new off Ebay
Any cold air intake.
These modes will wake up your LT1 and sound good, not raspy. Plus you will have a little left over to buy some gas.

Not saying they don't happen...I just see a lot of evidence that ours is more desirable. I love being able to easily scan and tune my car.

as far as a DD OBDII > OBDI, because OBDII will tell you more about what is wrong with your car if something does happen. OBDII has a set of rules to set the light, and will store it. OBDI is random, and it will set it when it feels like.

It also provides a candidate list of vehicle parameters to monitor along with how to encode the data for each. Finally, the OBD-II standard provides an extensible list of DTCs. As a result of this standardization, a single device can query the on-board computer(s) in any vehicle. This simplification of reporting diagnostic data led the feasibility of the comprehensive emissions testing program envisioned by the CARB."

^^ i agree above. i converted OBDII to OBDI, better for tuning, less trouble lights, and other reason also. DD and drivability, OBDII all the way. Welcome to the group by the way! seems your headed in the right direction, and good luck to ya!
