Default Interesting first week with 383

well ive had my car back for a week now. put about 500 miles on it. still untuned. trying to baby it as much as i can. lol. runs good. so far ive only had one issue. i have a big radiator that i had hooked up to my old engine for about 5000 miles. apparently my old engine had a bunch of gunk in it and once i had my new engine in, some of that old gunk caused a clog in the line somewhere and the car spit out all the coolant so it almost overheated on me. then i filled it and flushed all the garbage out and now we are good.

but for real though, this thing really blows my mind. i really had no idea what i was in for. the power of this engine is rediculous. and im running ported stock heads and a 230/236 cam. its like a mild mannered beast. the clutch is really friendly with like a 2inch slip at the very top, i love it. it drives around town real nice, but when you go half throttle the monster comes alive. i absolutely love the exhaust note. and the 12 bolt is definately worth the money.

heres the thing, ive had these 19" wheels on here for about 2 years, i am partial to them. and i will be taking them off today for my old transam wheels with MT ET Street radials (255's). iight check it out, i was coming down the interstate on saturday night. and this bike pulls up next to me right, all tryin to race and ****. im like whatever so i drop into 4th going 75mph, could have been in 3rd. (4.11 gears) somewhere between 3300-3600rpm, i mash down all the way. the tires gripped for about a half a second and then i roasted the f***ers going 75 mph. BLEW THE TIRES OFF GOING 75MPH OH MY GOD I ABOUT S*** MY PANTS!!! HOLY HELL!!! so needless to say im selling my 19"s. im going to roll on the TA's until i get me some 18"s and some nitto's or something of the like.

but all around im very happy i did this project, even though it took forever, its running great, and im a happy *****.

my car is similar - I think
has 383, LT4 heads but stock LT1 intake and tb for now, Hooker longtubes, !cats, egr, 4L60E/SS3800 stall, 4.10

I had a low 12 second LS1 a year ago, had to sell

Test drive in this car felt quicker - pulls more even through the rpm range - so I bought it!
not sure my cam, but I'm guessing about like yours. Guy said 400 rwhp and 12.2x in the 1/4
no proof - but I think he's damn close.

You have a mid 12 second car - welcome to real speed from TORQUE

If your like the rest - you'l do it again into the 11's next time

Do yourself a favor, get it tuned, at least a mail order to hold you over.

did that, Ed Wright, got fucked over on it too.

anyway. a tuner is going to ride with me and do some preliminary tuning in the car with a laptop this weekend or early next week. then the final dynotune when the dyno is finished being installed. (they moved to a new shop)

i took my rims off yesterday and put on my TA wheels with the MT ET street radials. and they bite pretty good off the line but man a 3rd, 4th, or even 5th gear punch blows the damn tires off and leaves two big black marks behind me going down the road. ill be perfectly honest here, i did a shitload of reading on here and comparing other peoples setups and researching before i started this project. and i believe this is more than a 12 second car and more than 400whp as well. either that or my pinion angle is way off. im going to check that today.
