Best cam for my car?
Best cam for my car? I have a LT4 hot cam sitting in my closet, and I plan on modding this winter. So... I was wondering... What is the best/most aggresive cam that I could put in my 95 LT1 with the stock internal replaced? I really want to get rid of my LT4 hot cam. I want something I can hear with a nice lob to it. Any suggestions?
Well it's going to depend on how in depth you want to go with mods. If it's going to be just a cam then most people are going to say GM847 or cc306. I personally really like my Combination Motorsports 233/239. Maybe I'm a lil bias. Any of these cams will do exactly what you want and perform well too. You will need supporting mods and a good tune.

I dont have exact #'s but they can be easily searched.
As for cam, decide what the car is going to be used for, there are a varity of cams to choose from. Just dont get the blower cam with out the blower. A friend did that and it certainly an under acheiver.

the 306, 847, etc are some of the oldest choices out there and a ton of people have run those on stock heads and made more than smaller cams will make.

so the next question becomes what heads should you run. I am currently looking at a 97 ws6 54k w/4.10's m6 fullexhaust and i want a big cam. I was looking at the LE2 or 3 package but would stock heads be able to hold a monster cam? sorry for hijacking but i was gonna start a similar thread soon. Also who makes a decent aftermarket head for ltseries motors? i kno afr or trickflow but is that what were limited too and also would lou elliot heads work for a "big" cam, i thought i saw someone running a cam close to the .600 mark and higher 250 duration. I know what ls1's will take but 400rwhp sounds great w/the le2 package w/the mods he recomends but i wanna take it a lil further. Daily Driveability is not a huge concern even tho i would DD this car i drive a highway 10miles each way. what do you guys think? I mean i am willing to go completly custom on a grind for the cam just want some suggestions

What I've gathered from several sources is that anything higher than mid 230s in duration and/or over .570" lift will be too big for a street car. That is, of course, a matter of opinion, but cam surge and idle tuning can become issues. I have GTP stg 2 LT4 heads and I'm puttin down 375rwhp w/ a little hotcam. LE heads seem to bring results(same w/ AI), so you can't go wrong there. I say go with one of the aforemention heads(also the ones you named would be good) and a custom cam. Talk to Craig from GTP(I can get you his # if you like) He will suggest a cam tailored to your exact pair of heads based on their flow #s, ccs, etc.. as well as your specific set up and intended use.

personally i dont care if i drive a damn 8 sec race car on the street ill manage, as long as it has a/c im straight. Thanks for the advice and 375 is a damn good number w/a lt4 hotcam for sure w/an auto. I am just waiting to sell my damn truck to buy this car, clean white ws6
