Exactly what is a waste of money here? Getting a larger throttle body?
That said, to the OP: if you are really only making 347rwhp (that's pretty bad with a head/cam/intake package if so
) then you don't really need a larger one yet. Last edited by infinitebird; Aug 13, 2007 at 08:06 PM.
For a lightly modded motor, I'd get a 52mm. It'd save you the porting of the intake.
This is a 135,000 mile original block that had a blown head gasket and a crankcase full of coolant when I got my hands on it. Certainly, there's a lot of blow-by. The previous owner beat on it, hell, I beat on it. The car managed to turn 13.1 @ 107 at Englishtown and since then (and chassis dynoing) the car got full suspension upgrades, front and rear, the LTCC kit, the Mufflex exhaust and a new transmission that actually shifts. I'll say I might've picked up a few ponies with the exhaust and LTCC kit.
For what the short block's been through, the car runs remarkedly good, smokes the DR's well into 2nd gear even with the stock 3.23 posi (which I can't believe I haven't blown up yet)
As money allows, my next mod is a 12 bolt rear and then a 383 block. My goal is 450-500 at the wheels N/A.
The TB is not a huge amount of money, I can afford it now, it won't hurt the performance of my current setup and I can certainly use it with the new short block, hopefully next year.
Next week, the body shop'll fit it with a WS6 hood and fix a small oops in the quarter panel.
Thanks everybody for the help, I'll be getting that 58MM AZS&M TB.
